If you only have 48 hours to discover London, don’t worry!

The British capital is packed with must-see sites that you can explore in just two days while capturing the essence of this historic and modern city.

Here’s an itinerary for 2 days in London, blending iconic landmarks, trendy neighborhoods, and breathtaking views.

  • Discover Europe's charm with a three-night adventure for two in iconic cities

Day 1: history and culture in the heart of London

Buckingham Palace
Start your trip at one of London’s most iconic spots: Buckingham Palace.

As the official residence of the British monarchy since 1837, this palace was originally built in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham before becoming a royal residence during Queen Victoria’s reign.

Westminster Abbey and Big Ben

Continue your walk towards Westminster Abbey, a stunning Gothic church dating back to 960 AD, where the coronations and funerals of British monarchs have taken place for centuries.

Right next to it, you’ll find the Palace of Westminster with the iconic Big Ben (officially known as the Elizabeth Tower), which is arguably the most famous clock in the world.

London Eye

For a panoramic view of the entire city, hop on the London Eye, a gigantic observation wheel located along the Thames River.

Inaugurated in 2000, it’s the perfect way to see London from above, whether by day or night.

Covent Garden

For the afternoon, head over to Covent Garden, a lively district known for its markets, artisan shops, and street performers.

This historic market first emerged in the 17th century and has since transformed into a modern hub for shopping and dining.

A true cultural hotspot in the heart of London, Covent Garden is also home to the Royal Opera House.

Day 2: art, markets, and modernity

Tower of London

Begin your second day with a visit to the Tower of London, one of London’s most iconic landmarks.

This medieval fortress, founded in 1066 by William the Conqueror, has served as a royal palace, prison, and treasury.

Today, you can admire the Crown Jewels within its historic walls.

Tower Bridge

Right next to the Tower of London, cross the famous Tower Bridge, one of the most recognizable bridges in the world.

Inaugurated in 1894, this bascule bridge also offers stunning views of the Thames.

You can visit the engine rooms to learn more about the history and mechanics behind its construction.

The Shard

For a lunch break with a view, head to the top of The Shard, London’s tallest skyscraper.

Completed in 2012, The Shard dominates the London skyline with its 310-meter height.

Enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the observation decks while dining at one of the sky-high restaurants perched at the top.

Camden Market

In the late afternoon, immerse yourself in the alternative vibe of Camden Market, another must-visit spot in London.

Here, you’ll find everything from vintage clothing and handmade crafts to street food from around the world, all set against a bohemian backdrop that makes Camden a truly unique neighborhood.

Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery

End your trip at Trafalgar Square, one of London’s most famous squares, dominated by the statue of Admiral Nelson.

This square commemorates the British victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

Just steps away, you’ll find the National Gallery, which houses an incredible collection of European paintings, featuring masterpieces by Van Gogh, Monet, and Leonardo da Vinci.

In just 48 hours, you can experience a rich blend of culture, history, and modernity in London.

From the Tower of London to Camden Market, this quick itinerary allows you to explore the city’s must-see spots while soaking up the unique energy of the British capital.

If you have some extra time, consider visiting The Making of Harry Potter at the Warner Bros. Studio.

It’s an incredible behind-the-scenes tour that takes you through the magical sets, costumes, and props from the iconic film series—perfect for fans of the wizarding world!
